Urban Toys I is an introduction to a research probe regarding citizen enabled interactive interfaces, which, in turn enable citizens through apt placement, and conscious design from within the urban system. The urban toy seeks to influence a collective revolution of the city and its citizen’s quotidian construct. The interface assumes the function of a narrative device, as propelled by citizens.
A first step in the process the document surveys the history of laughter, theories on play and gradually materializes the established ludic identity. The document analyses these theories, and introduces the urban environment through intended modes of navigation.
